Nuclear Warfare in Ancient India: the proofs beyond doubt

Sanyasthama Vinasyati - Ajithkumar

While researching Indus Valley Civilisation, I stumbled upon some articles regarding Nuclear Warfare in Ancient India.. I have posted it from various sources with some editing..

Julius Robert Oppenheimer is remembered as “The Father of the Atomic Bomb”. During a college lecture,  a student asked “‘Was the atomic test at Alamagordo the first nuclear blast?”

(The student meant: Was there a U.S. program before Alamagordo?)

Oppenheimer answered: ‘Yes, in modern times.’

(The creator of the A-Bomb meant: Our atomic program was the first, not counting the ancient nuclear wars of the distant past. Oppenheimer was a student of the old books of India; such as the Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita.)

[A little bit about Oppenheimer:

In his first year as an undergraduate at Harvard, Oppenheimer was admitted to graduate standing in physics on the basis of independent study. As an undergraduate he never took a class in physics. In 1933 he learned sanskrit and met the Indologist Arthur Ryder at Berkeley. He read the Gita in sanskirt.  He later developed a keen interest on ancient texts of India. Later he cited his visit to india as the most influential thing in his life.

Post World War, his lectures were considered to be some of the best. For every Theory he gives a quote from Mahabharata or Gita. He speaks about Shiva and Krishna, even during the ‘Trinity’ he quoted a verse from Mahabharata]

They are not fictional stories. They are history. They speak of flying vimanas. Vimanas were real vehicles and the origin of the ‘Aeroplanes .’ Great wars were described in these early texts. Weapons could literally level the land like a moving force field. In ancient India, we find words for certain measurements of length; one was the distance of light-years and one was the length of an atom. Only a society that possessed nuclear energy would have the need for such words. When Oppenheimer said ‘I am become the destroyer of worlds,’ he was quoting from these ancient books. Believe it or not, the deserts on a number of continents today are the result of (prehistoric) nuclear warfare. Historian Kisari Mohan Ganguli says that Indian sacred writings are full of such descriptions, which sound like an atomic blast as experienced in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He says references mention fighting sky chariots and final weapons. An ancient battle is described in the Drona Parva, a section of the Mahabharata. “The passage tells of combat where explosions of final weapons decimate entire armies, causing crowds of warriors with steeds and elephants and weapons to be carried away as if they were dry leaves of trees,” says Ganguli.

Consider these verses from the ancient Mahabharata: …a single projectile Charged with all the power of the Universe. An incandescent column of smoke and flame As bright as the thousand suns Rose in all its splendour… a perpendicular explosion with its billowing smoke clouds… …the cloud of smoke rising after its first explosion formed into expanding round circles like the opening of giant parasols… was an unknown weapon, An iron thunderbolt, A gigantic messenger of death, Which reduced to ashesThe entire race of the Vrishnis and the Andhakas. …The corpses were so burned As to be unrecognisable. The hair and nails fell out; Pottery broke without apparent cause, And the birds turned white. After a few hours All foodstuffs were infected… …to escape from this fire The soldiers threw themselves in streams To wash themselves and their equipment.

Until the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, modern mankind could not imagine any weapon as horrible and devastating as those described in the ancient Indian texts. Yet they very accurately described the effects of an atomic explosion. Radioactive poisoning will make hair and nails fall out. Immersing oneself in water gives some respite, though it is not a cure. When excavations of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro reached the street level, they discovered skeletons scattered about the cities, many holding hands and sprawling in the streets as if some instant, horrible doom had taken place. People were just lying, unburied, in the streets of the city. Excavations down to the street level revealed 44 scattered skeletons, as if doom had come so suddenly they could not get to their houses. All the skeletons were flattened to the ground. A father, mother and child were found flattened in the street, face down and still holding hands. And these skeletons are thousands of years old, even by traditional archaeological standards. What could cause such a thing? Why did the bodies not decay or get eaten by wild animals? Furthermore, there is no apparent cause of a physically violent death.

These skeletons are among the most radioactive ever found, on par with those at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At one site, Soviet scholars found a skeleton which had a radioactive level 50 times greater than normal. Other cities have been found in northern India that show indications of explosions of great magnitude. One such city, found between the Ganges and the mountains of Rajmahal, seems to have been subjected to intense heat. Huge masses of walls and foundations of the ancient city are fused together, literally vitrified! And since there is no indication of a volcanic eruption at Mohenjo-Daro or at the other cities, the intense heat to melt clay vessels can only be explained by an atomic blast or some other unknown weapon. The cities were wiped out entirely.

There is evidence that the Rama empire (now India) was devastated by nuclear war. The Indus valley is now the Thar desert, and the site of the radioactive ash found west of Jodhpur is around there. A heavy layer of radioactive ash in Rajasthan, India, covers a three-square mile area, ten miles west of Jodhpur. Scientists are investigating the site, where a housing development was being built. For some time it has been established that there is a very high rate of birth defects and cancer in the area under construction. The levels of radiation there have registered so high on investigators’ gauges that the Indian government has now cordoned off the region. Scientists have unearthed an ancient city where evidence shows an atomic blast dating back thousands of years, from 8,000 to 12,000 years, destroyed most of the buildings and probably a half-million people. One researcher estimates that the nuclear bomb used was about the size of the ones dropped on Japan in 1945.

Another curious sign of an ancient nuclear war in India is a giant crater near Bombay. The nearly circular 2,154-metre-diameter Lonar crater, located 400 kilometres northeast of Mumbai and aged at less than 50,000 years old, could be related to nuclear warfare of antiquity. No trace of any meteoric material, etc., has been found at the site or in the vicinity, and this is the world’s only known “impact” crater in basalt. Indications of great shock (from a pressure exceeding 600,000 atmospheres) and intense, abrupt heat (indicated by basalt glass spherules) can be ascertained from the site.

A documentary video by History channel adds more credibility to the work of these researchers. Another documentary on the ‘origins of man’ provides us with proof of human evolution millions of years ago. Check this video

Also note that a lot of babies being born with a weird condition nowhere seen on the planet but in India. There are sites in India wich contain high volumes of radioactivety so maybe this is a plausible theory.

Documentaries in History Channel are filled with fake facts, from the moon being hollow to alien building the pyramids. You can’t trust anything they say.

Well I know that Oppenheimer can’t be the reincarnation of Arjuno because Paramahansa Yogananda was, so maybe he was Haneman.

Modern age humans were not learned to evolve there brain that what they capable of. & hence things shown which are unknown & unexplained to modern humans perdicts the ancients were aliens… but that’s all bullshit.. they were all humans.. we can;t deny the existence of aliens in other planets but giving credit to aliens that what ancient humans did is totally unfair just because modern human didn’t learned or adapt to accept it & learn to use human brain upto max extent… we cannot undergo & relate Hinduism or any human religion/culture to some bullshit aliens.

  • ShantaK

Can anyone give information about who tested the site for radioactivity, when, and details about their findings? Since this doesn’t have source notes for the scientific assessments, it’s kind of hard to research its claims.

I am rodent follower of Bhagavat Gita and am convinced such things did exist and were made to settle scores between mighty nations

  • hareesh

I think u r 100% true.. The fact that our own govt doesnt care about our culture and it importance. The world is doing research on Indian culture and learning the technology used by our ancestors. hope our people understand them

I’d have to acquiesce with you one this subjcet. Which is not something I usually do! I really like reading a post that will make people think. Also, thanks for allowing me to comment!

Great article. I myself got very interested in Hinduism and our ancient texts and ancient history and recently came across this article in my searches. I assume others readers are in a similar state of mind as I am and would recommend these additional links:
(1)Hinduism: Translations of several of our ancient texts
(2)Ancient aliens : around 15 episodes posted on Netflix.

  • Unni

Absolute bullcrap. Do you have a habit of writing any stupid crap that comes into your mind Ajith? You haven’t cited one source for any of your claims. You are no better than that idiotic Max Mueller who concocted the “Aryan Invastion theory” sitting in his arm chair in Oxford. There were no radioactive skeletons discovered at the Indus Valley sites. Ever. Give me a link or reference to a scientific study done by archaeologists or other scientists who have said so. The Oppenheimer quote was interesting. Any source that I can verify that with?
This is my sincerest request to all Hindus/Nationalists out there, please don’t mix in pseudo-scientific “facts” that come out of your day-dreams with our puranas and our culture. It does more damage than . If you are really interested in helping our cause then go and do some proper scientific research and publish papers and present your case to the scientific community. IMO those researchers who proved using DNA tests that Indians are one people all genetically linked, have done more to discredit the Aryan Invasion theory than the Sangh, the blogosphere could ever do. Please do anything that presents the case for India & Sanatana Dharma instead of such pointless ramblings.

You cannot call an article bullcrap without researching about the topic. I have given the quotes and the authors who have written about it. It is not just me, even ‘History channel’ in a documentary has said about this extensively (check the video) however unlike what the mahabharata says they are speculating that it might have been an alien attack.

There can be no other reason for a complete destruction of highly evolved civilization.

This article is so unbelievably amazing. Bookmarked it and will start a more in-depth research into it soon. Hope can be of some assistance to u in future, Ajith sir.
Also bookmarked this article to show it to my parents and relatives. This article makes me feel so proud as a Hindu / Bhartiya but sad at the same time to know where all that glory of ancient India is gone?

And I am more interested now to study and research on Hinduism / Ancient India.

Also regarding all the troubles in the world I believe that Kalki avatar of Lord Vishnu is definitely a truth that will happen very soon now. Forgive me if I am sounding ignorant. My knowledge on my own religion is not that strong but I will start study and research on it soon.

It is sad that you are still addressing our way of life as Hinduism. There is no such thing as Hinduism, it is sanatana Dharma a way of life; the westerners named it as one of the ‘isms’. Sanatana Dharma accepts even Atheism unlike any other religion. We said we have 300 million Gods in our ancient texts, because we knew that every human being have the possibility of experiencing the divine. You had four different paths to achieve that realization and Bhakthi is just one of it.

All the best for all your endeavors.

      • hareesh

So true.. Sanatana Dharma A way of life…
I always wanted to read Gita but never did..
From my understanding Hinduism accepts everything. its a culture that is designed in such a way that we won’t ruin anything for our greed. We see god in everything… if you can understand it you will find scientific reason for all belief.

There’re descriptions of such kind of weapons which were called “astras” in sanskrit, such as Brahmastra,Vajrastra,Pashupatiastra,Narayanastra, etc in Puranas and Bhagwad Gita.Vyas also describes in details about the destructive effects of these weapons similiar to those in modern times & how the Mahabharata war was fought.

    • ajithkumar

Yes indeed. Many people have a misconception that Brahmastra is the astra of Lord Brahma, but it is the asthra meant to make use of the the power of Brahman which according to Indian tradition is the root of all energy, matter and the root of all creation. It is all but natural that an astra which acts as a nuclear bomb is named as Brahmastra.

      • Abhishek

Ajith sir, I was just about to bring this point that Lord Brahma being the creator then Brahmastra would definitely have to be that ultimate Weapon based on the Basic Unit of all Matter (Atom).

        • ajithkumar

          Hi Abhishek,

The Brahmastra is derived from Brahman(the one which pervades everywhere including the sub atomic particles) and not Brahma in my opinion , the root of all creation and existence.

Wonder no more. It was is the direct result of British imperialism. This is what happens when that pirate nation has its way you. Ask the Kenyans. Ask the Irish. Ask the Iraqis.

Film, TV and literature would have us believe in a nation of gardeners and shopkeepers, a warm and caring, cheerful, funny people, all about their busy day, inventing just about everything ever invented, exploring dark and savage lands and writing almost all of the world’s greatest classics. Yet they somehow still find time, we’re told, to set aside all class distinctions, down at the village pub, and commune across a pint or two, and a friendly game of darts. Think democracy at it’s finest, if not it’s very homeland. Think “mother of parliaments,” Magna Carta and rule of law not men. Think fair play, i.e. by English rules.

But should the need arise, they’ll drop their well deserved idyllic lives to stand (alone if need be), a “thin red line of heroes,” between Western Civilization and whichever apocalypse looms greatest at the moment. Never have so many owed so much to so few. “Finest hour” and all that. “Over the top” and Tally ho!” Knights in shining armour and stout yeomanry alike, a happy band of brothers, these, with smiles on their faces and jokes at the ready, should ever you own moral sink. Bloody good chaps to have at your side in a scrap, especially when in the thick of it, and in everyday life no finer friend, loyal even to a fault.

Think Mr. Chips. Think Mrs. Miniver. Think Monty. Think Monty Python.

Balderdash. Codswallop. Don’t believe it for a minute. That’s not the real Great Britain. Oh, the ordinary Brit’s alright, no better and no worse than ordinary people anywhere.

But the English ruling class? They’re Evil Inc., and that’s putting it politely. If they simply outright massacre you, you’re among the lucky ones. Survivors slave or starve.

So forget Mr. Chips, et al.

Think Lord Jeffrey Amherst wondering (in a postscript no less), “Could it not be contrived to send the Small Pox among those disaffected tribes of Indians? We must on this occasion use every stratagem in our power to reduce them.”

Think Sir Arthur “Bomber” Harris, burning the old men, women and children of Dresden alive.

Think Sir Winston Churchill, the “Butcher of Gallipoli,” writing in 1920, “I do not understand this sqeamishness about the use of gas. I am strongly in favour of using poison gas against uncivilised tribes.”

With officers like these, of course the ship’s a pirate. No mere idle speculation, this. History bears it out.

    • ajithkumar

Perfect.. Can’t agree more, however people get what they deserve. The Indian population back then was close to 400 million and UK’s population was just 40 million. Even if most of the Indians used stone and sticks to attack Britishers, they would have left the country with no choice. There was no unity or leadership for India, so they deserved it. It is hard as an Indian for me write this, however that is a fact.

  • Gramme Tremlet

I started following Hinduism for the past 5 years. I did so after accidentally reading bagavat gita. I just wonder how such a great civilization is reduced to a third world country today.

Great article and a nice presentation.

    • Rajan

Hi Gramme. It is nice to hear such things. I think that you would have done a lot of research about India and Hinduism. It will be very helpful if you can pass on any related articles. I had been trying to learn a lot about these but rarely find good articles such as these. My mail ID is

It is time that they look where Kuruksetra lies.It is maybe interesting to know what kind of weapon the have used in this Battle.Evrybody have used theyr ultimo weapens, in this battle, to eliminated they fo.

    • Rekha

Yes.. got to agree with in. In India no importance is given to archeology or excavation. In one temple alone this month we found treasures worth 20 billion dollars, making it the richest temple/religious place in the world. This is just the tip of the iceberg. If we calculate the wealth taken away from every other temple in India by the likes of Malik Kafur and others, it will be well over a few trillion dollars taken away from us.

There are far greater riches in the India, and there are far more things that are lying beneath, but sadly the government is not doing anything.

When I worked for Rockwell YEARS ago some physicists told me that they had been brought in to study areas of India that exhibited many of the signs seen in the desert of Alamogordo after they popped the 1st nuke. Pretty fascinating stuff. Despite legends the experts all said it was from lightening. After the nukes went of in NM studies showed the material was similar.

At the time I was working on the TLD readers for AECL workers. I did a lot of calibration stuff up at Chalk River and then set up the readers at Darlington, Bruce etc.

Before the TLD readers nuclear exposure was measured by FILM BADGEs. The problem with the film badges was that they just whited out when exposed and you could tell very roughly how much the exposure was by a white/grey scale that the film strip was compared to. NOT very exact and no clue WHAT kind of radiation so a bit of Beta could show just as badly as a near fatal blast of Gamma.

    Need for new instrument.

The TLD reader had three aspirin sized crystals inside an plastic holder. The crystals vibrated at a set and constant speed. Exposed to radiation the crystals vibrated faster. The TLD reader read the diff between the zeroed crystals and after their exposure to 4 weeks of an atomic energy workers exposure. The different crystals read different types and levels of radiation. Once read the crystal would be “zeroed” (small negative charge by being touched by a needle electrode) again and sent back to the worker.

This was the technology being developed and for some of physicists from several governments thought it was VERY important to take samples of some of the salt bowls in the deserts of NW India where these GLASS CRATERS had been found. It seems that once the crystals are exposed the vibrate at the increased level FOREVER. These guys confirmed that many of the samples were showing the same rates (very very HIGH) of atomic crystalline vibrational change as the “glass” from Alamogordo. As this article states, there are areas of NW India that have exceptionally high genetic birth defect rates too. The descriptions in the ancient texts appear obvious too.

  • I believe the technologies in the pre – Adamic world (before modern man) were far more sophisticated than nuclear weaponry. It was more along the lines the lines of energy weapons, perhaps based on sonic energy which is the most powerful energy in all creation. God created all things through His Word (which is intelligence expressed in the form of sonic energy – “And God SAID”…God does not speak in English or Hebrew or Sanskrit but through an intelligence release of energy which gives shape to that which is being expressed. “and God SAID….and it was so.” The point here is that God’s energy is creative and also therapeutic, Jesus healed people by His Word.

On the other hand beings with evil intent can release energies for destructive purposes as is the case with nuclear weaponry. But to create a desert as in Rajahstan, India or much bigger ones like the Gobi or Sahara, the size of the nuclear explosion would have to be so huge that it would probably have vaporized the earth, so it is far more likely that scalar weaponry or something similar was employed in those days, the description of which is found in ancient texts like the Mahabharata. Even in modern times, nuclear technology is far inferior to Tesla type technologies that the US military and some other nations like Russia possess. So ancient civilizations in possession of galactic travel technologies would not be using something as primitive as nuclear weaponry. By the way the Bible does record the utter destruction in the past, not only of the earth but the heavens as well. The present heavens are not the same as those from the dawn of creation.

The ultimate weapens that Arjuna en all the others have an used must be very suffisticated; because they can carry them nowadays a riffel or some thing.

  • This makes sense to me because we went from nothing to nukes in about 200 years. In all those years before, there was plenty of time to figure out nuke weapons. Go watch the “Origins of Man” video on youtube and they have found modern human remains in strata that is millions of years old. Modern science may have it all wrong…

The forgotten past, the ignorant Indians, self-pity… please forgive to say forget India’s past and knowledge. Traet it as a tale and story. Just like what the Government of India affidavited in the Court in the case of Ramasethu Project. Forgive me to say Ramasethu instead of ADAM’s BRIDGE.
